Wild food Awarness programs and Earth Day Celebration in Kheriya Sabar villages – March and April 2022

In March 2022 an awarness on wild food was conducted in Mirgichami village. The program involved 13 young people and 20 children with elder Sabar villagers as resource persons. UD fellows Binod Sabar, Jiban Hansda and Sabar villagers shared their knowledge about different wild tubers and uncultivated plants and trees. The childern were also taken to neighbouring forest areas and helped to identify different wild food plants and trees.

In April 2022 another Awarness Program on Wild Food was conducted in Karru village involving 20 villagers. The children were taken for a short trail where they were shown a variety of wild plants and tuber plants.

Earth Day was celebrated at Mirgichami village on 22nd April 2022 with UD fellows organising a tree planting programme. Native trees such as Banyan were plant along village roads and Jamun and Pomergranate saplings were planted in villagers homestead areas. The saplings were protected with fencing made using sticks.
