In 2021 a temprorary nursery – made with Bamboo , Wood and Paddystraw – was established in Shalidih village, Kunchia GP, Bandwan Block. In February and March 2022 this was upgraded to a strong Shagenet Nursery with Cement pillars, Bamboo, Iron Pipe sand Greennet. The nursery has a height of 10ft, width of 25ft and length of 30ft.
In the previous year saplings of Sajne, Kurol, Kundri and Papaya were planted in Sabar villages of the Block and a stock of small saplings of different species such as Jamun, Kendu, Piyal, Mahua, and Baheda were retained in the nursery.We have already repotted the saplings in Big Growbags and they will be ready for transplanting in the Monsoons.
Also this year we have Prepared Sajne, Kundri, Jamun, Kend, Kurol, Spinegourd and other saplings. In the Monsoons the Nursery will be covered with Polythene Cover so that saplings can be protected for the next year. This Nursery will help us to prepare saplings upto 2-3 Years continuously.
The nursery in Mighichami has also been upgraded with the same materials as Shalidih. This nursery has a width of 10Ft and a length of 30ft.We will Start the seed sowing in the month of June 2022. Here we saplings of hardy local wild trees and plants such as Kurol, Baheda, Kendu, Piyal, and Jamun.
