In the Kharia Sabar hamlet Jara Sabar Para in Purulia District of West Bengal, a Health awareness training was organized in collaboration with the ICDS Department on 15th December 2025, focusing on the well-being of Sabar Women and their families. The training brought together Sabar Women from different households, creating an open and friendly space for learning and discussion.

The ICDS staff explained important topics related to maternal and Child Health in simple and practical ways. Discussions included balanced nutrition using locally available foods, care during pregnancy, the importance of regular health check-ups, and timely immunization for Children. Women were encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences, making the session interactive and relevant to their daily lives.

Special attention was given to hygiene and sanitation practices. The trainers spoke about clean drinking water, hand washing, safe food preparation, and menstrual hygiene. These topics helped the women understand how small changes in daily habits can prevent illness and keep families healthy.

The training also highlighted the role of Anganwadi Services and how Sabar Women can access ICDS benefits such as supplementary nutrition, health monitoring and early Childhood care. Many women learned for the first time about the full range of services available to them and their children.

By the end of the program, the women felt more informed and confident about taking care of their own health and that of their families. The health awareness training at Jara village became an important step toward building healthier practices, strengthening community knowledge and empowering Sabar women to make informed health decisions for a better future.
