Awareness Program on Wild Food with Children of Amanara Village – 19th and 20th January 2019

On the 19th and 20th of January 2019 Using Diversity (UD) Network fellows Jaykumar Yadav and Bhawru Ram Hansda conducted a two day Awareness Program on the Wild Food of the Pahari Korwas with the Angan Wadi and Primary School children of Amanara village, Dharamjaigarh Block, Raigarh District, Chhattisgarh.

Prize Distribution

The children were provided information about the variety of different wild foods available in their forests. They were taken for a forest trail where Bhawru helped them identify different wild food plants and trees, they also dug and extracted wild tubers which they brought back to the village and ate. A drawing competition focusing on wild food was also conducted. The program involved 25 – 30 children and they enjoyed the program thoroughly and were keen to learn more about the rich diversity of their forests.
