Sidheshwar Sardar, Mohan Sabar and Jawahar Lal Sardar
8th September 2021 – Dhengam Kocha
On the 8th of September 2021 an awareness program on community resources was conducted in the Sabar village of Dhengam Kocha. The program was conducted by Community Fellow Jawahar Lal Sardar and the participants included 4 women and 7 men. In the course of the program Jawahar Lal facilitated a discussion on the community resources like forests and other natural resources that the Sabar community are dependant on and provided awareness on how they can get rights to these resources through the Forest Rights Act. He explained the concepts of Individual Forest Rights (IFR) and Community Forest Rights (CFR) as well as the process which needs to be followed to apply for these rights and the follow up that needs to be carried out to ensure that they receive titles to their resources.
13th September 2021 – Butgoda
On the 13th of September 2021 an awareness program on community resources and forest rights was conducted in the Sabar village of Butgoda. The program was conducted by Community Fellow Mohan Sabar and the participants comprised of 4 women and 8 men. The process of applying for Individual Forest Rights (IFR) and Community Forest Rights (CFR) was explained and discussed in detail. In the course of the discussions it was decided that the IFR claims of 3 Sabar families would be prepared and filed for.
18th September 2021 – Nagarsai and Kodarkocha
On the 18th of September 2021, awareness programs on community resources, forest rights and the implementation of the Forest Rights Act were conducted in the Sabar villagesof Nagarsai and Kodarkocha. The participants comprised of 4 women and 7 men.
